The matrix Journey

“Initially I thought the matrix Journey
would be daunting but it’s actually
simplified everything and now
I’m hooked! It’s because of the
matrix Standard that our service is
performing so well, and some of our
learner feedback is just brilliant.”
Kevin Phillips,
Live and Learn
Project Coordinator
CWU Live & Learn Centre (Teeside Royal Mail)

Make
the decision and commitment to the matrix Standard
The matrix Standard is the national Quality Mark for any organisations that delivers information, advice and guidance on learning and work.
The matrix Standard is designed to be flexible so you can choose the approach that best suits you and your organisation. The diagram below shows you the different ways that it can be applied to your organisation.
| Apply the matrix Standard to your external information, advice and guidance services | Apply the matrix Standard to your internal information, advice and guidance services | |||
|---|---|---|---|---|
| This means where you provide a service to external clients, such as in careers services, student services, learning centres, community centres, recruitment and employment agencies, voluntary organisations, trade unions, business training providers, and human resource consultancies. | This means where you, as an employer, offer your internal staff support or assistance in areas such as induction, skills training, management development, performance appraisals, promotion and succession planning, redundancy programmes or Learning Centres. | |||

| Apply the matrix Standard to both external and internal services | ||||
| This means where you apply the matrix Standard to the information, advice and guidance you provide to external clients, and you also apply it to the support you provide staff. | ||||
At this stage you may want to decide how you take the matrix Standard forward within your organisation. For example, you may initially want to take the sole lead on introducing the matrix Standard or you might prefer to set up a project team or steering group from day one.
Whatever your starting point, it is vital that you secure commitment to the matrix Journey from the most senior level in the service or organisation as their backing for – and active engagement with – the process will help ensure sustainable results.
Once this commitment is in place you can start to bring others on board – you might want to start with managers and those responsible for delivering the information, advice and guidance service.
If you feel that you need more information to help you make your decision to commit to the matrix Standard, you can access support by clicking the support material button at the top of this page or simply by calling the matrix Standard enquiry line.

Once you have made a commitment to the matrix Standard, on return of a Company Data Sheet to ENTO, you will be provided with a Certificate of Commitment to demonstrate your organisation is working towards the Standard. To download a Company Data Sheet please click here.
