Seeking Excellence

It’s that time of year again when those with an interest in the matrix quality standard for information, advice and guidance begin to pace the corridors with expectancy.  The cause?  31 July was the cut-off date for submission of applications for the matrix Excellence Awards, the time by which organizations Accredited to the matrix Standard can take the opportunity to showcase themselves to a Judging panel.  This culminates for the winners in the award of a specially commissioned bronze sculpture, presented this year by James Cracknell, Olympian Rower, at a prestigious dinner at the Institute of Directors in London.

This is the fourth year of the Awards, building on the successes of previous occasions when winners have shown how their use of the matrix Standard has proved excellent, demonstrating outstanding examples of inspiration, innovation, leading-edge or exceptional activity.  Judges also take account of the benefits and impact deriving from the matrix Standard’s use where organizations reflect the measurable and added value that can be evidenced.

Naturally, there is a vast range of achievements where the ‘extra special’ shines through, exampling volunteer-staffed community ventures that have brought real learning and work opportunities to disadvantaged people to the other end of the spectrum where large-scale organizations have become more cohesive in their delivery of services by using the framework of the matrix Standard.

Needless to say, winners of the Award testify not only to a sense of real achievement but of the high profile marketing that ensues.  Their comments can be seen and heard on www.matrixStandard.com

And, of course, an amazing amount of work is undertaken behind the scenes to ensure that the occasion runs according to plan – effective marketing; support to potential applicants via events;  efficient administration; assessing applications; Judges’ visits to confirm evidence.  A sigh of relief may be heard on 21 November 2007 when the ‘workers’ can hopefully catch their breath but these will be eclipsed by the ecstatic utterances of this year’s winners.
