2009 Winners
unionlearn North West
unionlearn North West have been a previous Excellence Awards winner in 2006.
They have continued to use the matrix Standard to develop their services and in particular listen to their members to identify their changing needs. It was in response to such feedback, that the organisation developed a service which supports people where fewer than 20 people are at risk of redundancy. The service developed ensures that Careers Advisers and CAB Money Advice workers can provide support on job searching and debt and pension advice, providing practical support at a crucial time.
Union Learning Reps have been trained to act as front line referral points for the wider support network and 17 ULRs have completed training in Money Advice support. This has been recognised by a number of national organisations including the Financial Services Authority who have offered to fund the training of ULRs in Money Advice throughout the North West region.
