Merseytravel

Merseytravel co-ordinates public transport and acts in partnership with private bus and rail operators to provide public transport in Merseyside.  Merseylearn is the learning and development arm of the organisation who work in partnership with unionlearn, GoSkills, the LSC and a range of unions to deliver IAG and training to the diverse workforce.  They have been Accredited since 2005 and all of their work is driven by the matrix Standard, with the underlying ethos of quality IAG.

Using the Standard to drive engagement, particularly with adults who do not have formal qualifications or wish progress onto further education.  Merseytravel have worked with 5 district authorities to train taxi drivers to NVQ level 2 and they are working with Merseyrail and John Lennon Airport on a similar approach.

Informal learning is encouraged and the organisation has set up an employee loan scheme, to allow individuals to undertake all kinds of non work related development, examples include driving lessons, computer training, FE and HE courses. Loans have also been given for people to buy their computers.

This company believe IAG is at the heart of everything and good quality IAG is the first step. If this is wrong then everything else could be and that is a waste of the organisations and individuals time and money. They believe the matrix Standard has given equality of opportunity for learning and access to learning and it has helped shape the culture of the organisation.
