Henley College Coventry – Student Services
The IAG service of Henley College Coventry achieved matrix Accreditation in 2004 and then maintained the matrix Quality Mark at Accreditation Review in 2007.
During the matrix Journey the College made outstanding progress in its partnership working, and in achieving a truly holistic, integrated approach to supporting particularly its most vulnerable students. They have linked the Standard with the ‘Every Child Matters’ framework.
It was these achievements that the Judges recognised as excellent. Operating in an area of high social deprivation, a large proportion of learners have complex support needs. To better address these needs, the college instigated a cross-college Welfare and Learning Support group which invites in appropriate staff and partners to ensure effective support, including an advanced practitioner in tutoring from each faculty.
This approach enables them to regularly review at-risk students and jointly monitor progress, which triggers action planning to keep individuals on track.
Meanwhile an innovative partnership with the Youth Service has led to two Youth Workers now being based full time at the College, which is enabling IAG to be targeted even more effectively.
